A short film exploring the beauty of variation when creative decisions about sound and movement are left to chance.

This process was carried out 8 times by the same participant, to determine the parameters of 8 pieces of film and 8 pieces of piano music.

The results were then compiled into a piece of film, starting with the choosing process.

This project explored how the tale of Little Red Riding Hood could be explored using shadows and cut outs.

By using string and dropping pieces in from the top of the frame, I wanted to emulate the how elements of a stage set would be pulled in and out.

'At night, the eyes of wolves shine like candle flames, yellowish, reddish' - The Company of Wolves by Angela Carter. I wanted the wolf to appear as a ghostly figure, watching over Red Riding Hood, looming ominously, foreshadowing their violent meeting.

The wolf meets Red in the house, following the traditional tale. However I wanted to bring in more of the theme of feminism explored by Angela Carter in her adaptations of the tale, as Little Red Riding Hood leaves the house unscathed.

Exploring the role and importance of Street Cleaners in Cardiff, through the design and proposal of an event of appreciation called Diolch.

I created a character based on a Street Cleaner I met in Cardiff. The looping animation sees him travel between 'landmarks' made up of equipment and items used and involved in Street Cleaning. Exploring the necessity and monotony of the role.

I designed an event that would take place in Cardiff that would allow Street Cleaners to enjoy food and drink at various landmarks, before or after their shifts.

The food and drink would be served in recyclable containers, using a basic visual language that echoes what Street Cleaners may interact with day to day.

For an RSA student brief I created an animation to a piece of sound from a speech about the importance of improving healthcare in the UK. I wanted to keep the visual language simple, using the versatility of the circle to visualise the various points made.

There was a consistent line throughout the majority of the animation that I manipulated to build momentum and provide context to the other shapes.
